Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy is a procedure in which an instrument known as a bronchoscope is inserted into a person’s body to examine or treat certain illnesses related to the respiratory system. The insertion is performed through the nose or mouth and is used to relieve the discomfort of the person undergoing the anesthesia procedure.

It is used to diagnose respiratory diseases in which the person is suffering from a regular cough or cough. Also, when results of other diagnostic procedures such as computerized axial tomography scanning or X-ray examination show abnormal findings in the chest, bronchoscopy is used for further examination. Bronchoscopy is also used to remove foreign objects from the airways.
